Ear infections and hearing problems - antibiotics or alternatives of the anthroposophic medicine?
Our "ordeal"
Tim had as a child always problems with the ears. With entry into kindergarten developed the usual colds, ear infections on a regular basis. For our former pediatrician no problem for the Indunstrie has indeed invented antibiotics and penicillin. Initially, that also helped. But once again healthy, Tim was in kindergarten, came the next cold, again, an antibiotic - a vicious circle. Upon request, whether because the antibiotic is really necessary and useful, above all, always had a "Yes, that must have been!". Since we were concerns in this regard but at some point, we looked for another pediatrician. But even there, it was always on antibiotics, as all middle ear infections can cause severe damage in the ear. Has been from time to time the effect of antibiotics but weaker - that Tim was a side effect diarrhea. Finally sat down for another middle ear fluid behind the eardrum, so that Tim could only hear limited. So we took our leave an operation in which an incision is made into the eardrum so that fluid can flow out, a seemingly common operation performed.
After we had decided to change them, we had to wait a while until the surgery. Even though Tim was able to listen to restrict still only made up to the date for surgery, no further therapy, appropriate medication, it did not seem to give. Later we learned from other parents that they are still waiting much longer for the surgery had apparently occurred to us good, we were privately insured.
The surgery itself went smoothly, and Tim's symptoms were gone once, especially since the winter, and thus the common cold as well as time had passed. However, the problem returned the next winter. What should we do - again lots of antibiotics, or revert to this operation?
The "rescue"
Finally we got the tip about a special, anthroposophical doctor to go, many of our friends praised in the highest terms. Unfortunately, this particular doctor was on leave when we wanted to consult him, so you there one (also anthroposophical) representation doctor was called, where we finally landed.
First I would like to reiterate that although I knew roughly the doctrine of Anthroposophy, but at that time was not really familiar with their medical approaches. When this doctor was now much different: Even the atmosphere in the waiting room - warm, pastel-colored wall tones, wood furnishings, pleasant lighting, rounded furniture - was somewhat strange, but quite pleasant. Even the children seemed to do well: only a little bit hectic and Gequängel, despite a full waiting room.
On examination, the doctor took quite a lot of time and listened very attentively, and prescribed a homeopathic means - namely Levisticum e radice D3 Velati globules of Wala which helped immediately. In addition, he prescribed us a Kaltinhalator with appropriate homeopathic agents and distilled water. Right from the beginning of a cold now Tim inhaled always immediately, and thus the incidence of infection declined rapidly.
When Tim could hear a few years later, in conjunction with a reduced otitis media only, I got in spite of my good experience with homeopathic agents fear that there may be such means could no longer help. The doctor assured me, however, that I should not worry and certainly no antibiotics to cure or even an operation was necessary. Nevertheless, I remained a bit skeptical when I picked up the beads from the pharmacy. But even 2 days later, Tim was able to hear again and disappeared into the ear pain. The recipe for the nasal balloon to mechanical pressure, which had given us the physician nor if there will be no speedy recovery, we need therefore not at all. Thank God!
My personal tip for acute ear pain the way, is still the good old onion bag: some glassy or simply sautéed chopped onions in a small cloth bag or cotton packing, squeezing it well and put the onions on or behind the ear, preferably in conjunction with heat , say that there is also a warmed Körnerkissen or a hot water bottle.

we have a similar ordeal behind us and it just starts all over again. My son Marvin scored the first 4 months of CEE, which was in January 2008. Since then he has had a monthly MOE, usually on both sides, sometimes only 1 ear was affected. Marvin usually treated with antibiotics (10 of 12 times). In December 2008 we decided to zs. with the doctors (ENT) and a pediatrician, and of course, completely exhausted after due consideration for the OP: Removing the polyps, and insertion of tympanostomy tubes. Of these, we expected a lot. But in the first week of January this year he got another MOE (right antibiotic treatment), in contrast to before the operation with vaginal discharge, which probably took at least the worst of pressure), 2 weeks later still the same (left without antibiotic treatment , but with ear drops, although I know that does not) actually help. This MOE was, however, without discharge. Now my fear is that the tubes are clogged with secretions is. Sowas may be possible? Since then, my son also sleeps poorly again, he almost quängelt all night, as the whole of last year, stuffing, but in contrast to the ends of his Kuscheltuchs into the ears and all kinds of stuff, what he finds so during the day. We've also had several attempts homäopathische funds iodide (calcium, calcium carbonate Hahnemanni D 6), but this did not help Otowowen did not help. Now I'm pretty much at the end.

Hi Kerstin,
Since we have changed our pediatrician, has Tim (now 12 years) never needed an antibiotic. Although Tim's ears are still some weakness, but the items described in my onion bag enough to his ear pain is now completely in the rule. Middle ear infections are now been going on for many winters of the past. His immune system as a whole has become very strong, so that we see our doctor usually only for the upcoming screening examinations.
I can recommend you also look good anthroposophical doctor. The advantage is, in my view, is that such a physician has made a perfectly normal medical university degree and then an additional Anthroposophical training. As a rule prescribes a anthr. So doctor homeopathist, wraps, ..., but our pediatrician would be in an emergency, of course, prescribe an antibiotic. Meanwhile, very many friends go there with their children there, and are all very satisfied.
(The educational ideas of anthroposophy have largely taken over the way, I do not for me and the education of Tim.)
